The world's largest one-day automotive event: about 40,000 classics cruising Woodward Avenue, held the third Saturday in August.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world's largest one-day automotive event. On the third Saturday of August, around 40,000 classic, muscle and custom cars cruise a 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue through nine Oakland County communities, from Ferndale to Pontiac, watched by up to a million people or more.

It started in 1995 as a fundraiser for a children's soccer field in Ferndale. Organizers hoped for 30,000 people and about 250,000 came. It has been held every year since, except 2020.
